Senior Arjun Gurjar has reached the semifinals of the Breakthrough Junior Challenge with a recently posted video about transposon, a gene in humans that is capable of duplicating itself. Gurjar’s video is now in the “popular vote round” of the competition, during which videos are being tracked for the number of likes they receive on YouTube and Facebook. Should Gurjar’s video receive enough likes, he will move on to the final round, where he will compete for the grand prize, which includes $100,000 for the winner’s school to create a Breakthrough Science Lab. The popular vote round ends Sept. 20.
