Eagle Update: Golf clinches second straight title, cross country dominates WBAL meet

The Harker girls golf team earned its second straight undefeated league title by beating Castilleja (219) and Mercy (249) with its lowest score of the season (187). Shooting 12-over-par as a team, the Eagles had all five players counting scores in the 30s. It was a perfect ending to senior Emi Fujimura’s career in the regular season as she earned her first medalist honors by shooting par. The team also competed in Monday’s league tournament, where it tied for first place with Crystal. The girls received the league’s automatic qualifying spot into the CCS tournament in Carmel on Tuesday. Good luck team!

Cross country competed in the second WBAL meet in Sunnyvale on Monday, Oct. 23. The varsity boys team dominated the field, as senior Veyd Patil, sophomore Robinson Xiang, frosh Axel Szolusha and junior Harriss Miller swept first-to-fourth places, respectively. Most newcomers ran their best races of the season, while the following returners ran personal bests on the familiar 5K course: Robinson Xiang, Harriss Miller, sophomore Emily Bryan, junior Robert Fields and sophomore Jessica Hu.  The team competes in the league’s final meet on Nov. 3 at Crystal Springs.

Girls volleyball ended its regular season with a clean sweep of Priory on Tuesday.  The frosh/soph team ended the season at 9-8 overall, 4-0 in league. The JV squad finished its season with a 15-3 record and 10-0 in league with a league championship! Varsity finished 17-8 overall and 9-3 in league, good for third place as they await their CCS draw, which begins Saturday.

Boys water polo defeated Fremont Tuesday in the first round of the SCVAL tournament. The team now faces Palo Alto today at 4:40 p.m. at Gunn High in the tournament semifinals, with a chance to qualify for Saturday’s tournament finals.

Girls water polo defeated Los Altos in its first round SCVAL tournament game to set up a game at Palo Alto in today’s semifinals at 6 p.m. Go polo!

Wish girls tennis well against Menlo today in the team’s final league match of the season after falling to Castilleja 3-4 Tuesday in a hard-fought battle.

Good luck as well to the football team as it travels to Trinity Christian Saturday for the final game of the season.
