Eagle Update: Girls golf finishes sixth overall in first state championship

Girls golf competed in its first-ever state championship Wednesday at Poppy Hills, placing sixth overall to end the team’s historic season. Congratulations to senior Emi Fujimura, juniors Khanhlinh Tran and Allison Yang, sophomores Kimaya Mehta and Ashley Mo, and freshman Joyce He, as well as coaches Ie-Chen Cheng and Sean Tamashiro, on a great run.

Cross country competed at the CCS Championship on Nov. 11 at Crystal Springs Cross Country Course in Belmont. In the girls’ race, both Samaara Patil, grade 9, and Emily Bryan, grade 10, ran well, with Patil running a personal best of 21:52 on the challenging 2.95 mile course. The boys battled through untimely bouts of illness that affected several team members, but freshman Aiden Coviello ran a strong personal best of 19:00, while sophomore Robinson Xiang ran 16:40 to place in the top 10 and qualify as an individual to the CIF State Championship meet. Robinson will be back in action at states on Nov. 25 in Fresno!

The girls water polo season ended last week at the CCS D2 semifinals as the team fell to Aptos High 9-6. The squad finished the season with an impressive 18-11 overall record and 11-3 in league while finishing third place in the highly competitive SCVAL-DeAnza division. Congratulations on an outstanding season.

Boys basketball scrimmaged with Silver Creek at home this week, and both boys and girls basketball will head to Aptos for scrimmages this Saturday.
