In late June, Tiffany Liou ’08, who has worked in television journalism since 2012, was named the Asian American Journalists Association 2026 Member of the Year. Liou, who recently announced a return to the Bay Area after working at WFAA in Dallas since 2018, has won eight Lone Star Emmys (including two Lone Star Sports Emmys) for her reporting, which has included coverage of local events, culture and the experiences of Asian-Americans in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. She has also received the Radio Television Digital News Association’s Edward R. Murrow Award twice.
In a post on social media, Liou reflected on her first experience with AAJA in New York in 2013. “I was amazed by the Asian American journalists and representation around me,” she wrote. “I never imagined I’d walk the gala stage to accept such a high honor.”
