In April, Angelia Jia ’22 received the J. E. Wallace Sterling Award for Scholastic Achievement, being named one of the top 25 students to graduate from Stanford University’s School of Humanities and Sciences this past June. She now plans to attend MIT for her doctorate in quantum physics. Upper school English teacher Clifford Hull, who Jia identified as having been an especially influential teacher in high school, was invited attend a special ceremony where she was presented with the award. Also appearing was Dr. Monika Schleier-Smith, associate professor of physics at Stanford, who was recognized by Jia as the faculty member who had the most impact on her while at Stanford.
Other Harker alums who have received the Sterling Award are Nitya Mani ’15, Anand Natarajan ’09 and Jocelyn Ko ’07.
