Eagle Update: Girls golf advances to state championships

For the first time in its decorated history, girls golf qualified as a team to the State Championships based on Monday’s third place NorCal finish at the Berkeley Country Club. Junior Allison Yang placed fifth overall to lead the Eagles’ historic result. The state tournament will be held Nov. 16 at Poppy Hills, Monterey.

Girls water polo advanced to the CCS semifinals after its weekend win over Pioneer, but lost 6-9 to Aptos High School in a tough contest. Congratulations on a great season!

Cross country competed at the WBAL Finals at Crystal Springs Cross Country Course in Belmont last Friday, where many Harker runners turned in personal bests on the familiar, challenging 2.95 mile course. Senior Veyd Patil and sophomore Robinson Xiang each placed in the top five to lead the boys team to a fourth-place finish, qualifying the team for the CCS Championship this weekend. On the girls’ side, both Emily Bryan, grade 10, and Samaara Patil, grade 9, qualified for CCS as individuals. Support their efforts at this Saturday’s CCS Championships at Crystal Springs at 11 a.m.

Congratulations to the boys water polo team on its outstanding season. The team fell to top-seed Bellarmine 14-8 in the CCS Open Division quarterfinals, finishing the season at 16-10 overall, with a share of the league title for the second year in a row and the distinction of making the open division, reserved for only the top teams in CCS.
