Eagle Update: Girls basketball, soccer see promising starts

Girls basketball went 2-0 last week with wins over Lincoln and North Salinas to improve to 3-0 overall. The girls next travel to Half Moon Bay for a Saturday night matchup vs. the Cougars. Over Thanksgiving break, the team also was victorious in friendly competition at the annual Alumni vs. Students basketball game.

Girls soccer opened its season with a pair of wins last week, 2-0 vs. Gunn and 4-0 vs. Wilcox, and played to a 2-2 tie against Castilleja this week. The girls host Alvarez this Friday on Davis Field.

Boys soccer is 1-1 after opening its season Friday with a 3-1 victory at Pinewood followed by a loss to Milpitas High School on Tuesday. The boys host Riordan Thursday on Davis Field.

Boys basketball went 2-1 at the James Lick Tournament last week with wins over Mt. Pleasant and a come-from-behind victory over Lincoln. The team followed up with a win over Del Mar High School improve to 3-2 overall. At the time of publication, they faced Valley Christian and will return home Friday against Cupertino.

Sophomore runner Robinson Xiang represented Harker at the CIF State Cross Country Championship in Fresno on Nov. 25, running a personal best 16:57 on the challenging 5K course and moving up 17 places over the last two miles to place 81st in the 203-person field. Congratulations to Robinson and all cross country runners on a great season!
