Grade 3 pianist earns accolades and performs in Italy
At last month’s Autumn Music Competition, held by the Charleston International Music Competition, third grader Olivia Zhu won first prize in her age group and was named one of the top 15 Exceptional Performers. Her achievement was highlighted on Instagram. Over the summer, she also performed at the Elevato Piano Competition in Bari, Italy, where she was a guest performer with a local orchestra on Bach’s Piano Concerto No. 5 in F minor. A performing pianist since age 7, Zhu has previously worked with notable conductors from Japan and Mexico, and last year became the youngest performer ever invited to the International Piano Festival in Poland.
