Two more students – both members of the Harker Orchestra – are set to perform at Carnegie Hall later this year after winning music competitions. Violinist Hanz Baek, grade 9, placed first in the American Fine Arts Festival’s International Concerto Competition, in the B category for contestants aged 14-18, performing the first movement of Edourard Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole. He will perform at the Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall next month.
Sophomore violinist George Yang was invited to perform at the famous venue after taking first place in the intermediate category of American Protégé’s International Piano and Strings Competition. He has won several competitions in the past year, earning the Platinum Prize in the winter Global Genius Music Competition and Absolute First Prize in the VanBach International Music Competition.
