In August, after winning a top prize at the Chopin International Competition in Hartford, Conn., ninth grader Nathan Zhang performed at the International Piano Festival in Busko-Zdrój, Poland. There he performed Chopin’s Piano Concerto No.1 Op.11 with orchestral accompaniment, conducted by Vladimir “Vovka” Ashkenazy. Zhang’s busy summer also included appearances at festivals in Massachusetts and Los Angeles. Earlier this month, he was named to the board of Steinway Society – The Bay Area as its student representative.
