Harker has broken its record for National Merit semifinalists for the third consecutive year, with 84 seniors named in today’s announcement by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, representing 45% of the Class of 2027. The 16,000 high school seniors named semifinalists in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program make up less than one percent of all seniors in the United States. More than 1.2 million students entered the program by taking the PSAT/NMSQT in their junior years. To become finalists, students must submit an application containing information such as their academic performance and a record of participation in school activities, as well as an essay and recommendation by a school official.
