Last month, Harker student news website Harker Aquila won its third Pacemaker award from the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA), one of student journalism’s most prestigious accolades. The award, won in the Online category, was presented to Harker at the Journalism Education Association and NSPA’s National High School Journalism Convention, held April 16-18 in Minneapolis. Aquila was one of 16 Pacemaker winners at the convention, chosen from 40 finalists. Aquila has won the Pacemaker on two previous occasions, in 2022 and 2016, and was named a finalist in 2020, 2018 and 2012. Harker journalism has earned a total of eight Pacemakers since 2008.
