Kindergartner takes second in piano competition, set to perform at Carnegie Hall

Harker kindergartner Evelyn Hua is slated to perform at New York City’s Carnegie Hall in March after placing second in American Protégé International’s 2024 Competition of Romantic Music, in the Young Musicians Category. For her audition, Hua recorded a performance of Cornelius Gurlitt’s “Polka,” and will perform Tchaikovsky’s “Soldier’s March” during her appearance in New York. Earlier this year, Hua placed first in levels 1 and 2 in the US Young Pianists Competition. Eighth grader Ushnish Chatterjee, who won American Protégé’s We Sing Pop! competition, is also scheduled to perform at Carnegie Hall later this year.
