After earning their seventh consecutive league title with wins over Menlo and Crystal on Monday (and finishing 14-0 in the WBAL), girls golf secured an automatic berth to the CCS playoffs yesterday by taking first in the league tournament. They begin CCS play next Tuesday in Carmel.
Girls Varsity Volleyball earned a co-league championship with Crystal Springs with their victory over Priory on Tuesday. The girls finished the regular season at 18-8 overall, 11-1 in the West Bay Athletic League. They start the CCS playoffs Saturday. The JV team also went undefeated in their leage with a record of 12-0, and the frosh/sophomore team finished with a winning record at 10-8 overal.
Girls Tennis is currently 7-2 overall with their 7-0 victory over Castilleja on Tuesday and has an opportunity to earn the second automatic berth to CCS. The girls travel to rival Menlo School today for what is expected to be an exciting match.
The cross country team turned in two outstanding team performances at the second WBAL meet last Thursday at Baylands Park. Sophomore Ava Alvarez led the girls’ team to a fourth-place finish with a time of 20:07 over the 5k course, moving into third on Harker’s all-time list. The boys team turned in a second-place finish, its second of the season, as sophomore Axel Szolusha moved up to the third spot on Harker’s all-time list with a time of 16:45. The boys’ cumulative team time (top five runners) was the fastest in school history by more than a minute on the 5K course. Of the 25 runners who had raced at the course before, 17 ran a new personal best. The teams race next at the league championships at Crystal Springs next Friday.
Both boys and girls water polo teams won their first-round league tournament game Tuesday and both face Los Altos on Friday in the league semifinals. The boys play at Fremont High, 4:40 p.m., and the girls at Gunn High, 6:20 p.m. Both teams are one win away from reaching Saturday’s league finals.
Football fell to Priory last week despite a touchdown reception by senior Vedant Yadav on a pass from frosh Ricardo Sanchez. The boys have their final game of the season Friday at 7 p.m., just after their senior night ceremony at 6:45 p.m.
