Last week’s weather forced baseball, softball and swimming teams to reschedule, but other Eagles teams posted solid results.
Boys varsity volleyball won both of its games last week, defeating Homestead 3-0 and thrilling the home crowd with a 18-16 fifth set to beat Monta Vista on Friday. They are now 7-1 and set to face Los Gatos on the road on Wednesday and Cupertino at home on Friday.
Track and field had several highlights at Saturday’s St. Francis Invitational. Junior Spencer Chang had a personal record in 110 high hurdles with a time of 17.13, also running the 100 meters in 11.36. Sophomore Kai Nishimura had a season-best 11.70 in the frosh/sophomore 100 meters. Fellow sophomore Christine Deng also had a personal best in the F/S 100M with 13.96. The varsity girls relay team of sophomores Samaara Patil and Ava Alvarez and juniors Sophia Ou and Maryanne Davies ran for 4:16.38. Senior Emily Mitnick had a personal record of 27’-9” in the shotput and 88’-3” in discus.
Boys tennis is 6-2 after last week’s 5-2 comeback win over Sacred Heart Prep. JV and varsity have a busy week, facing Nueva tomorrow at Del Mar High, then heading to Priory on Wednesday before hosting Crystal Springs on Thursday at Del Mar.
Boys JV golf were narrowly defeated by Los Altos last week with a score of 237-242. Varsity will play Design Tech today at Boulder Ridge.
