Eagle Update: Football, girls golf, girls volleyball seasons begin

Eight-person football represented Harker well last Thursday in a hard-fought 44-30 loss to Cornerstone Christian on Davis Field. The Eagles were led by junior Jackson Powell and his three touchdowns and 17 tackles on defense. Sophomore Pedro Castro contributed with 14 tackles while senior quarterback Rayan Arya had 63 rushing yards. The team travels to Turlock Christian Saturday in a non-league matchup.

Girls golf participated in the highly regarded Chappy Wheeler Tournament in Southern California on Friday and Saturday and placed fourth overall. The squad was led by frosh Sai Keneshiro shooting plus-2 over the two days. Others placing well were Ashley Mo, Allison Yang, Kimaya Mehta, Joyce He, Khanhlinh Tran and Abigail Wang. Wish them well today as they face Sacred Heart Prep and Notre Dame-Belmont.

Girls volleyball fell to Scotts Valley in four games last Thursday then went 3-2 at the Milpitas Spikefest, placing 11th out of 32 teams Saturday.  The frosh/soph and JV teams earned victories at Scotts Valley. JV and varsity travel to Eastside College Prep Thursday while the frosh/soph team plays at Sacred Heart Prep.
