Ishan Mysore, grade 10, recently earned four medals in the United States Open Music Competition. He was awarded two silver medals in the Showcase Piano Intermediate category for his performance of Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in B minor, op. 32, no. 10 and in Treasury of Classical Composers Advanced for his rendition of the first movement of Beethoven’s Sonata in F Major, op. 10, no. 2. He also won a bronze medal for performing “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin in the Complete Piano Concerto category, and a crystal medal in Treasury of 20th-21st Century Composers Advanced for his version of Nocturne No. 2 by Francis Poulenc.
