Last month, Laura DeKraker Lang-Ree, Harker’s director of performing arts, received three 2025 Goody Business Book Awards for her book, “The Cancer Parent’s Handbook.” The book was named a winner in the Health: Medical and Self-Help: How To categories and was a finalist in Health: Mind, Body, Spirit. She was also named one of 2025’s Top Impact Authors, a distinction given to authors who earn three or more awards in a single year.
“The Cancer Parent’s Handbook,” released in February of last year, offers insights on how to raise children with cancer, inspired by her own family’s experience dealing with her daughter Cecilia’s (Class of 2013) leukemia diagnosis.
Each year, the Goody Business Book Awards highlight nonfiction books that aim to facilitate positive social change, in 50 categories encompassing eight genres. Hundreds of books are nominated and subsequently evaluated by a panel of professionals in fields of marketing, media and communications.
