Eagle Update: Girls basketball starts strong, soccer wins season openers

Girls Basketball opened their season with a 42-29 victory over Milpitas last week with senior Isabella Lo scoring 16 points for the Eagles. They followed up on Tuesday by defeating Homestead 71-29, as Lo erupted for 26 points. They hope to keep the winning streak alive Thursday against Ignacio Valley, 7 p.m. at the Harker Athletic Center.

Boys Basketball also opened their season with a win over Del Mar Wednesday 70-36 before falling to Monta Vista on Saturday 45-38 to start the season at 1-1.  Both JV and Varsity teams are competing in the James Lick Invitational Tournament this week, with JV playing Thursday and varsity playing Friday night, both at James Lick High School.

Boys and girls varsity soccer both won this week’s season openers, as the boys defeated Nueva with a score of 3-0 and the girls scored 11 goals in their shutout of Ace Charter School. Both teams play Thursday, the boys facing San Lorenzo Valley at home and the girls playing Gunn High School on the road.
