Latin students haul in the awards at Ludi Octobres

On Oct. 18, 31 middle school and 19 upper school Latin students traveled to La Entrada School in Menlo Park for the fall Junior Classical League convention, Ludi Octobres. Students participated in contests and games, attended colloquia and had fun meeting other Latin students from all over Northern California.

 Students earned the following awards:

Level Middle School 1 (all grade 6):

Theo Davidson: Second in Mottos, Quotes, and Abbreviations

Aiden Ding: played on the Third place Novice Open Certamen team

Audrey Hu: Firstin Novice Reading Comprehension

Hannah Liu: Third in Derivatives

Level Middle School 2 (all grade 7):

Mili Agarwal: Firstin Mottos, Quotes, and Abbreviations

Shiven Bhargava: Second in Latin Vocabulary, Firstin Novice Grammar

Ayden Bi: Second in Derivatives

Terence Heng: Firstin Academic Pentathlon, Third in Daily Life/Roman History, played on the Firstplace Novice Open Certamen team

Ally Horan: Third in Mythology

Jason Huo: played on the Second place Novice Open Certamen team

Suanne Li: Firstin Derivatives, Second in Novice Reading Comprehension, played on the Second place Novice Open Certamen team

Jeannie Song: Firstin Novice Reading Comprehension, Firstin Latin Vocabulary

(Certamen is a quiz bowl game with questions related to all aspects of the Latin language, Roman history and classical mythology; “open” means that students are randomly assigned to teams rather than playing for their school)
