After a hard-fought regular season, boys varsity basketball reached the CCS quarterfinals, where the team fell to Half Moon Bay High School. Girls soccer was one Harker Athletics’ biggest success stories this season, reaching the Central Coast Section playoffs and finishing fourth in the West Bay Athletic League with an overall record of 11-7-2. Girls lacrosse also had an outstanding season, finishing 12-0 in league play with senior Kyra Hawk scoring over 100 goals. Boys volleyball became CCS Division 2 champions for the third time in five years and advanced to the Northern California regionals as the eighth seed. Swimmers Ashley Hong, grade 11, and Kyra Cui, grade 10, qualified for the state championship meet in Fresno, respectively placing second and sixth in the 100m breaststroke. In track and field, seniors Andrew Fu and Armaan Thakker and juniors Andrew Smith and Anjali Yella reached the CCS playoffs, as did the boys relay team that included Fu and Thakker as well as seniors Rigo Gonzales and Zain Vakath. At the middle school, girls volleyball and water polo played well in their respective seasons and the lower school girls basketball squad showed promising improvement.
In April, nine Harker seniors pledged to participate in various athletic programs at their colleges of choice at a special signing ceremony. Congratulations to the following student athletes for taking this major step in their careers: Claire Chen (Georgetown, golf), Andrew Fu (Yale, track and field), Kyra Hawk (Smith College, lacrosse), Abhi Namala (Pitzer College, basketball), Emily Novikov (Georgetown, tennis), Amrita Pasupathy (CalTech, soccer), Armaan Thakker (Columba, track and field), Thomas Wisdom (Santa Clara University, water polo) and Lexi Wong (Pitzer College, soccer).
