23 students take top spots at California Science and Engineering Fair

Twenty-three middle and upper school students recently had high placings at the 2025 California Science and Engineering Fair, held in Thousand Oaks, Calif., where 881 students competed. In the senior division, junior Aditya Shivakumar, sophomore Trisha Shivakumar, sophomore Elizabeth Zhang  and frosh Siddhant Gaur took second place. Third-place senior division placers were senior Neil Krishnan, junior Hannah Lin, junior Lily Shi and frosh Ruoqi Li. Sophomores Anish Kosaraju and Cynthia Wang and juniors Yuqin Ma and Evan Zhang earned Honorable Mentions.

In the junior division, eighth graders Zooey Lan and Anya Lee each won Junior Division Project of the Year. Maggie Sun and Serena Yuan, both grade 8, earned first place, and placing second were eighth graders Aaron Lau and Ethan Weyn. Eighth graders Maya Akunuri and Anusha Kotalwar placed third, and eighth graders Rebecca Ding and and Sarafina Fung as well as seventh grader Christine Wang took fourth place.
