On March 15, the 2025 Diana Nichols Harker Math Invitational attracted the largest attendance in the event’s history with 500 middle school students from 30 schools participating. Harker had several high placements at the event, with sixth grader Landon Wan placing fourth and eighth grader Rafa deGoma placing second in individual competitions.
In the team contests, team Harker 601(Shiven Bhargava, Ayden Bi, Demir Ege Genc, Caleb Liu, Steven Park and Landon Wan) placed first in the sixth grade category, Harker 701 (Joshua Lin, Ryan Santosh, Eesha Vailaya, Jeremy Zhang, Laura Zhang and Moxi Zhu) took second place among the seventh grade teams, and Harker 801 (Tadashi Fujimura, Mark Han, Bartu Milci, Rohan Rajaram, Eric Zhang and Jocelyn Zhao) was the first-place eighth grade team.
Harker sixth grader Serena Zhu won the estimation contest, guessing that a swan sculpture contained 850 pieces, the closest guess to the actual number of 872.
