[Updated] Upper school journalism wins four CSPA Crowns

On Saturday, Harker journalism was awarded two Gold Crowns and two Silver Crowns in the Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s 2025 Crown Awards. Harker Aquila, the student-run news website received a Gold Crown in the High School Digital News category, and Winged Post, the student print newspaper, won a Gold Crown in High School Print News. Silver Crowns went to  the annual literary magazine HELM in High School Print Literary Magazine and to the Talon yearbook in High School Print Yearbook.

Jan. 7, 2025:

All four of Harker’s upper school journalism publications – the Winged Post newspaper, the Talon yearbook, the news website Harker Aquila and the literature and arts magazine HELM – have been named Crown Finalists by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Each are now eligible to a Gold or Silver Crown in the CSPA’s 2025 Crown Awards, which will be presented on March 21 at CSPA’s Spring Convention. In total, 540 student publications were in consideration for Crown Awards this year, each evaluated by panels of journalism educators and professionals for “excellence demonstrated through design, photography, concept, coverage and writing.”
