Rory Hu, grade 8, was recently named a winner of the Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes. Each year, the Barron Prize highlights 25 young people, ages 8 to 18, for making a positive impact in their communities. Hu was honored for devising a way to prevent colony collapse disorder, a phenomenon that poses a threat to bee colonies, a vital part of the ecosystem. The prize includes a $10,000 award to support further research or higher education.
