Eighth grader receives award in Japanese essay contest

Eighth grader Momo Matsui-Disini recently received an Excellence Award in an essay contest held by BaySpo, Northern California’s most circulated Japanese-language newspaper. Her essay described her experience over the summer visiting the city of Morioka, Iwate, Japan to learn about indigo dyeing. The essay was published in the Oct. 4 edition of the newspaper (viewable online in Japanese) and will also be displayed at Kinokuniya stores in San Jose and San Francisco.
