Upper school debate teacher Jenny Achten recently received her fifth Diamond Award from the National Speech & Debate Association, awarded to debate coaches who have earned at least 15,000 points over a period of five years. A debate coach of 25 years and a teacher at Harker since 2013, Achten has collected nearly 130,000 points since she began tracking her results in the 90s. Most recently, Harker earned first place overall at the Cal Invitational at UC Berkeley.
