An open house turned into an impromptu alumni reunion when John Near, a 31-year veteran of Harker who has metastasized colorectal cancer, his wife, Pam Dickinson, director of Harker’s Office of Communication, and daughter alumna Casey Near ’06, opened their home to friends and family on Aug. 22. The event was attended by hundreds of the many alumni, faculty, family and friends impacted by Near’s life as a teacher, coach and friend.
